Opal Ann Parks

Opal Ann Parks, age 84, of New Paris, Ohio went to her heavenly home on January 12, 2013 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton, Ohio. Born on November 27, 1928 in Preble County Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ralph D. & Jessie L. (Caldwell) Steele. She was a 1946 Jefferson High School graduate, former employee of Top Value store in Richmond, sold for Avon products, member Delta Theta Tau sorority, Red Hat Ladies of New Paris, active in the St Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris, Ohio and the First Baptist Church and the Christ United Church both of Richmond, Indiana.

Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Elmer Vernon Parks in 2005, daughter, Linda L. Smith in 2012, brother, Richard L. Steele in 1962.

Survived by her children, Jana Jo Parks of Rupert, Idaho and Terry Vernon Parks of Eaton, Ohio, sisters, Pat Davis and Linda Tangeman both of Richmond, Indiana, brother, Lowell T. "Toad" Steele of New Paris, Ohio. Grandchildren, Kurt, Kara, & Jared Beisner, Shawn, Lucas & Joey Parks, Jessica & Jana Smith. Nine great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral service Wednesday, January 16, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Brett Karanovich officiating. Interment will be in Spring Lawn cemetery at New Paris, Ohio. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
