Norman E. Smith

Norman E. Smith, 79 of New Paris, Ohio died Monday, April 25, 2022 at his residence. Born on October 5, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio he was the son of the late Charles F. & Ivonette V. (Mills) Smith. Norman was proud to be a Jefferson Bronco, a 1962 graduate of Jefferson Township High School in Dayton, OH. he excelled in sports and went to the Ohio State finals for 2 years in a row for pole vaulting. A founding member of the Over The Hill Gang Car Club. He had worked at McCall’s Corporation in Dayton, OH for many years until it closed; Parker-Hannifin Corporation for 20 years in Eaton, OH retiring in 2004. He, along with his wife Sharon, received the “Preble County’s Outstanding Senior Citizen’s Award” in 2013. Norman loved his family and friends. He enjoyed working on his street rods and going to car shows and swap meets.

Survived by wife of 36 years: Sharon K. (Moses) Smith; children: Bob C. Smith of Cocoa, Florida and Daniel C. Smith of Camden, OH; Elizabeth I. Smith & Justin Hall of New Paris, OH.; sister: Patricia Bell of Miamisburg, OH; granddaughter: Lauren M. Smith of Camden, OH; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Barnes Funeral Home – 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday April 29, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, Ohio. (Street Rods are welcome to be present during the visitation and/or funeral service).
