Mary Margaret Miller, resident of the Knolls of Oxford, died Thursday June 30th after a short illness. Born in 1928 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mary received a Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from Miami University, Oxford, OH in 1950. After graduation she returned to her hometown in Pennington, New Jersey to join Squibb Pharmaceutical (currently Bristol-Myers Squibb) where she would work for 43 years until her retirement in 1993. Mary was the first woman to lead a major research department at Squibb, a true trailblazer in her own right. In 2007, Mary moved from her residence in North Brunswick, New Jersey to Camden, and then later to the Knolls in Oxford where she lived in her cottage next to her sister, Pat. She loved good food, good wine, and the arts, a passion she developed in her extensive travels throughout the world. She was a scuba diver, an avid cook, enjoyed line dancing with The Country Kickers in Eaton and above all, she loved her Havanese pup, Sassy. Mary was a woman ahead of her times, fiercely independent and sharp who lived a full life on her own terms.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Wagers, her nephew Herb Wagers and his son Elijah Wagers.
