Marjorie E. Brissey, 98, of College Corner, OH, died Monday, February 1, 2016 at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton, OH. She was born on February 10, 1917 in Greenville, OH, daughter of the late Ernest C. and Florence W. (Sparklin) Morton. Marjorie was a 1935 graduate of Spartanburg High School in Spartanburg, IN; a 1937 graduate of Ball State Universtiy in Muncie, IN and a 1975 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, OH. Marjorie taught elementary school for 6 years in Indiana and 23 years in Preble County, Ohio, retiring in 1983 from the Eaton City Schools. She was a member of the Morning Sun United Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as an Elder. She was a charter member of the Oxford Senior Songbirds; member of the Oxford Senior Citizens; member of the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System; the Widowed Persons of Preble County and volunteered at McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford for 14 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Frank E. Brissey in 1984; daughter, Kathleen Brissey in 1953; brothers, Maurice, Harold, Howard, Eugene and Robert Morton and daughters-in-law, Deborah Brissey in 1996 and Judy Brissey in 2011.
Marjorie is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Jack Brissey of Santa Nella, CA, Philip and Pam Brissey of West Alexandria, OH and Wayne Brissey of Springfield, VA; brother: Glen Morton of Lynn, IN; sister: Marilyn Anderson of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren: Kristen (Matt) Lee; Paul (Jessica) Brissey and Eric Brissey; great grandchildren: Austin, Ryan and Micayla Lee and Daphne and Dahlia Brissey; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at The Morning Sun United Presbyterian Church, 11510 SR 177, Morning Sun, OH. Interment will be held in Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, OH. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, OH and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
