Marion C. Richards

Marion C. (Todd) Richards, age 89, formerly of New Paris, Ohio, died Monday, March 1, 2010 in Ithaca, New York. Born on February 8, 1921 in Berea, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Margaret Chasteen Todd. She graduated in 1938 from Morton High School in Richmond, Indiana. Marion worked for the Federal government as the registrar of the Preble County Draft Board in Eaton, Ohio, until 1974, then as a claims representative at the Social Security office in Richmond, Indiana until her retirement in 1982. Marion was a member and organist of the First Presbyterian Church in New Paris, Ohio, and organist for Barnes Funeral Homes.

Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, J. Robert Richards, in 1993; sisters Ethel Tudor, Ruth Cushard, Ruby Riggleman, and Margurite Eckenrode; brother Ralph Todd; and son, Dr. James R. Richards, in 2007.

Survived by her daughter-in-law, Anita Fox Richards of Dryden, New York; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Nick Goerky of West Alexandria, Ohio; four grandchildren; nieces and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, March 8, 2010, at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main St., New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Charles Rinehart officiating. Interment will be in Williamsburg Cemetery, Williamsburg, Indiana. Family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
