Mabel M. Hoover

MABEL M. (Stoneburner) HOOVER, 94, of Richmond, Indiana and formerly of New Paris, Ohio, died Monday, November 21, 2011 at Golden Rule Living Center in Richmond. She was born on October 7, 1917 in Kirkland Township, Adams County, Indiana; the youngest of four children born to the late Amos K. and Mary Leona (Stoutenberry) Stoneburner. Mabel was a loving devoted wife, and mother. She was a 1935 graduate of Kirkland Twp. High School in Decatur, Indiana and during WWII she was employed by General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1982 she retired from the C.R. Coblentz school district in New Paris where she was a cook for 23 years. A resident of New Paris since 1947, she attended the First Presbyterian Church in New Paris and was a member of the Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren in Decatur, Indiana.

Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, William Dwight Hoover whom she married on May 18, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana by the Rev. R.C. Wenger. In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by brother, Ralph J. Stoneburner; sisters, Eva Mae Ernst and Helen L. Schlagenhauf; one niece and four nephews.

Mabel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl L. and E.L. “Butch” Burkhardt of Richmond, Indiana.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Father Todd Riebe officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris. Family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
