LYDIA M. TOWNSEND, age 78 of Greenville, OH and formerly of Eaton, OH, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. Born on September 11, 1924 in Greenville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Rufus & Mary (Paul) Marker. She retired in 1991 from Baxter in Eaton and for the last 10 years was the current manager of the Clothing Bank for the Darke County Community Action Center (SCOPE). She had also worked for Food Filters in Eaton in the 1970's. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Eaton, Past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #215 in Eaton and the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 140 in Greenville, OH. Member of the Women of the Moose Chapter # 102 in Greenville, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post # 7262 in Greenville and the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton and had attended the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, OH. Preceded in death by Husband: Donald D. Townsend in 1993; Sisters: Ella Mae Hubler, Olive Nitchman, Marcella Ashman and Julia Reier; Brothers: Kenneth Marker, John B. Marker, Paul Marker, and Robert Marker.

Survivors include Sons & Daughter-in-law: Michael M. & Christine L. Townsend, Eaton, OH, Dean & Kris Townsend, Thornville, OH; Sister: Dorothy Lecklider, Englewood, OH; Brother & Sisters-in-law: Wayne & Genevieve Marker, Greenville, OH; Grandchildren: Christopher M. Townsend and Special friend: Sheryl McClure of Greenville, OH and Eric M. Townsend of Eaton, OH; Special Brother-in-law and Sister-in-Law: Bill E. & Ruth Townsend of Richmond, IN; Sisters-in-Law: Freida Marker, Jane Marker, and Irene Marker all of Greenville, OH; Brothers-in-Law: Ned Denlinger of Trotwood, OH, Ronnie Nitchman of Greenville, OH and Nick Reier of Celina, OH. Numerous Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2003 - 11:00 A.M. (Ohio Time) at the First Presbyterian Church - 123 W. Decatur St. - Eaton, OH with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison and Rev. John Person officiating. Interment will be held in Greenville Union Cemetery in Greenville, OH. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, OH and One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church- 123 W. Decatur St. Eaton, OH 45320; the Cancer and Blood Center of Reid Hospital- 1401 Chester Blvd- Richmond, IN 47374 or to the Adult Day Care Center of Richmond, Inc. - 2727 East Main Street- Richmond, IN 47374.
