LOWELL E. “PETE” SMITH, age 71 of New Paris, Ohio died Friday, December 5, 2003 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on September 3, 1932 in New Paris, Ohio, he was the son of the late Earl & Rosetta Ellen (Wise) Smith. He was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School in New Paris and was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1994 from DANA in Richmond, Indiana after 19 years of service and was the owner and operator of Pete's Barber Shop in New Paris for 18 years. Member of the American Legion Post # 360 of New Paris and was a past member of the New Paris Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Township Booster Club. Member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of New Paris. Preceded in death by Brother: Paul Fredrick “Fred” Smith in 1991. <br><br>Survived by Wife of 39 years: Marilyn M. (Cox) Smith; Sons and Daughter-in-law: Robert G. & Nancy J. Keller of New Paris, Ohio and Scott E. Smith of Louisville, Kentucky; Daughters and Son-in-law: Robin F. Keller & Philip Morgan of New Paris, Ohio, Lori S. Keller-Pope of Centerville, Indiana and Amy E. Smith-Johnson of New Paris, Ohio; Brother and Sister-in-law: Julian Ralph & Rose Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sister-in-law: Marie Smith Snyder of Dayton, Ohio; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law: Bud & Billie Cox and Tom & Nancy Cox both of Richmond, Indiana; Grandchildren: Bobby(Amber) Keller, Brooke & Philip Morgan, Josh & Ashley Pope and Kara Johnson; Great Granddaughter: Hannah Keller. Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.<br><br>Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 8, 2003 - 2:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home -109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. LaDonna Clary officiating. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2003 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
