LOUISE F. BENNETT, 74 of Eaton, OH, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at her residence. She was born on September 22, 1937 in Oceanside, NY, daughter of the late Stephen B. & Emily S. (Holland) Stilwell. Louise graduated in 1955 from Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY and in 1959 from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Louise taught the 5th grade at Eaton Schools from 1959 to 1960 and was a substitute teacher for many years. Louise helped to develop the Independent Living Program for 16 to 18 year olds at the Preble County children's home. She was a member of Concord United Church of Christ; Current Events Club; Tuesday Evening Book Club; United Way Funding Panel Board for 18 years; Domestic Violence Prevention Advisory Committee; Mental Health and Recovery Board; Preble County Art Association; Preble County College Club; Alpha Garden Club and the Board of Managers for Preble County Bi-Centennial Committee. Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Herd L. Bennett (2002) and son, Gray W. Bennett (2012).
She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Kathryn T. Bennett of New York, NY; Sarah L. & John Heuser of Manchester, MI and Ruth C. & Robert Poirier of East Haven, CT.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Bennett of Eaton; sister, Roseanna Page of Washington; brother & sister-in-law, Bruce & Carole Stilwell of Harrisonburg, VA; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Duane M. & Pam Bennett of Huber Heights, OH; grandchildren, Alex, Kayla, Natalie, Benjamin, Branson, Jessica, Ashley, Rachel, Jordan, Isabella and Steven; nieces and nephews, Heather, Duane, Jean, Richard, Nicholas and Edgar.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Concord United Church of Christ, 2225 Concord Fairhaven Rd., Eaton, OH with Rev. Wayne Morrison officiating. A private inurnment will be held in Concord Cemetery. Family will receive family and friends at a gathering after the service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home - Eaton, OH.
