Lois E. Simmons Brubaker

Lois E. Simmons Brubaker, 81, of Eaton, OH, died unexpectedly Monday, October 6, 2008 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH. She was born June 28, 1927 in Montgomery County, Ohio, the daughter of Harvey E. and Mary C. (Bowser) Flory. She was a 1944 graduate of Dixie High School. On March 17, 1945, she married Mark H. Simmons and became a farm wife. She was baptized August 25, 1950 in Wolf Creek, and became a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. For 20 years she was a bus driver for the C.R. Coblentz school district, and was one of the original members of what is now the North Central Rescue Squad. Following the death of her husband Mark, she married Christian A. Brubaker on June 4, 1989. She was a true servant to others – a devoted wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma who will be missed by all who knew her. She never met a stranger. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mark Simmons (5/26/1988), a great granddaughter Chloe J. Brumbaugh (10/13/2002), and her husband Christian A. Brubaker (10/21/2007).

Survivors include: son, R. Travis (Linda) Simmons of Eaton; daughters, Juanita K. (Allen) Brumbaugh of Hollansburg, Mary E. (Robert) Brunk of Eaton; step children, Marilyn (Robert) Bullock, Elaine (James) Wheeler, Dianne (James) McCloud, Susan (Duane) Miller, Jenny (Gene) Brubaker; 10 grandchildren: Bertha (Edmund) Kahlil, Norman (Judy) Fudge, Bobbi Lynn (Keith) Linville, Rolinda (James) Bowman, R. Harvey (Liz) Simmons, Blaine (Joyce) Brumbaugh, Corrine (Ibrahima) Abou, Karen (Buddy) Shepherd, Kimberly (Joel) Galloway, Ian M. (Redah) Brunk; 17 step grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 32 step great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Mary Ellen Pansing, Brookville, Idamae Kelley, New Madison and Martha (Roger) Kuntz, Covington.

A prayer service for Lois E. Simmons Brubaker will be held Friday, October 10, 9:00AM at Barnes Funeral Home, Eaton, OH, followed by the 10:00AM funeral service at the Prices Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Eldorado, OH. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville, OH. Friends may call Thursday, October 9, from 1:00 – 4:00 and 5:00 – 9:00 PM at the Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main St., Eaton, OH.
