Lloyd J. Scott, age 86 of Hudson, Florida died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Hudson Hospice Care Center in Hudson, Florida. Born on December 16, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was the son of the late George C. & Josephine I. (Calloway) Scott, Sr.
Lloyd proudly served in the U. S. Navy for 6 years as the youngest Chief Fire Controlman on the U.S.S. Fulton during World War II. Lloyd retired in 1979 after 35 years as a design engineer for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, Indiana. During that time he designed the guidance system for the first Polaris missile and had worked on the design of the Poseiden missile.
Life member of the V.F.W. Post 3433 in Ladson, South Carolina. Life member of the American Legion Post 119 in Greenfield, Indiana. Member of the U.S.S. Fulton association.
Preceded by father, George Scott, Sr. in 1965; mother, Josephine I. Hampton in 1988; brother, George Scott, Jr. in 1998; granddaughter, Julie Ann Grissom in 1989; great grandson, Sean Grissom in 1989.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen M. (Price) Scott of Hudson, Florida; daughters & sons-in-law, Joyce Ann & Doug Burton of Franklin, North Carolina, F. Diane & Steve Weaver of Greenfield, Indiana, Jenny Lee & Nick Logiudice of Anchorage, Alaska and Robin E. (Nathaniel Mizzell) Scott of Summerville, South Carolina; sister, Joann (Hampton) Boerner of Eaton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Jean Scott of Greenwood, Indiana; grandchildren & spouses, Scott & Jenni, Doug Jr., Amy, David, Susan & Kevin, Kim & Josh, Brandon & Stacy, Erin & Dennis, Adrienne & Robert, Corkey & Laura, Laura & Sammy and Jennifer & Timmy; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mound Hill Cemetery with Rev. Roger L. Stine officiating and full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
