Lily E. Hunt

Lily E. Hunt, 73, of Castine, went home to be with Jesus, Monday, February 20, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, OH. She was born August 28, 1938 in Dayton, OH, one of eight children of Lester Merle & Mazie (Baker) Black. She was a graduate of Monroe High School, West Manchester, OH. Lily loved the Lord, and was a faithful member of the Go Ministries, Gettysburg, OH, where she enjoyed many of the church activities, from being a member of the "Red Hats" group, to taking part in the jail ministries, where she made hand stitched crosses to give to each inmate. Many others were also recipients of these crosses, as well as her delightful doll clothes and furniture. She could fashion any type of miniature doll furniture, animals, tractors, barns, etc. that any child would want – all from sheets of plastic needlecraft & yarn. She was a cat lover, and also enjoyed painting pictures and reading. In addition to her parents, Lily was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hunt, who died 9-1-85; 2 sisters, Martha Black & Margaret Tice; 2 brothers, John J. & Everette M. Black.
Lily was a caring and loving mother & grandmother, and is survived by 3 children: Benjamin Thompson, Castine; Roberta (Charles) Strickler, Castine; Yula Hurst (finance Jason Eyler) New Lebanon; 2 grandchildren: Gregory & Amanda Thompson of New Paris; 2 sisters: Mabel Wilson, Hagerstown, IN; Mary Sollenberger, Verona; 1 brother: Robert E. Black, West Alexandria; several nieces & nephews, and many friends.
The funeral service for Lily E. Hunt will be Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH, with Pastor Doug Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery, St. Rt. 49, Arcanum, OH. Friends may call Friday, February 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
