Leonard L. Duke

LEONARD L. DUKE, age 102, of Eaton, Ohio died Friday, February 8, 2008 in Eaton, Ohio. Born on November 3, 1905 in Eaton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Daniel N. & Emma A. (Cottingham) Duke. Early in his career Leonard was a painter, wallpaper hanger and tool-maker. He raised Belgium horses and farmed with his father and then farmed in Washington Twp., and lived near Eaton all his life. He served as a Preble County Commissioner from 1963 - 1975, was a long-term member of the Board of Directors of the Preble County National Bank and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Leonard was a Life Member, Melvin Jones Fellow and Past President of the Eaton Lions Club. Preceded in death by his Wife: Edith (Larsh) Duke in 1997; Brothers: Harold N. Duke in 1944 and Glen C. Duke in 2001, Great Grandson: Joel R. Rauschenbach in 2003.

Survived by his Daughter & Son-in-law: Janet & Nelson Hardin, Eaton, OH; Son & Daughter-in-law: Rev. Tom Duke & Jean Hammink, St. Paul, MN; 5 Granddaughters: Jone (Jon) Rauschenbach, Carol (Bruce) Perry, Julia (Randy) Wood, Karen (Desiree Kempcke) Duke, Laura (Rich) Lundgren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church - 111 Lutheran Drive - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Warren Reichert officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio.
