Leo W. Petry

LEO W. PETRY, age 85 of New Paris, OH died Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. Born on August 4, 1918 in Eldorado, OH he was the son of the late Roy and Laura Agnes (Buckley) Petry. He was a 1936 Monroe High School graduate and a WWII Veteran in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1987 from Stephen-Shultz in Dayton, Ohio as a Steam Engineer in Sales and Design. He was also a Plumbing and Heating Contractor for Plumber’s Supply in Dayton, Ohio for seven years. He was a licensed single engine pilot, was an active member of the Glen Miller Golf Course and for twenty years he coached softball for the Pony League, Little League and the American Legion at New Paris. Preceded in death by Son: James A. Petry in 2003; Brothers: Paul J. Petry in 1929, Bernard L. Petry in 1969 and Lloyd John Petry in 1995.

Survived by Wife of 60 years: Miriam C. (Schraeder) Petry; Son & Daughter-in-Law: Thomas W. & Linda J. Petry of Prospect, OH; Daughter & Son-in-Law: Joyce E. & Jerry D. Hill of Xenia, OH and Daughter-in-Law: Jan Petry of Muncie, IN. Grandchildren: Jeff and David Petry; Michelle Rawlins, Renee Petry, Andrea, Sarah, Nathan and Bryan Hill; Great Grandchildren: Eli Rawlins, Addie Rawlins and Indigo Petry. Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2003 - 11:00 A.M. (Ohio Time) at Barnes Funeral Home -109 West Main Street - New Paris, OH 45347 with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, OH with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2003 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (Ohio Time) at the funeral home.
