Kent D. Cassel

KENT D. CASSEL, 62, of Dayton, Ohio and formerly of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. Born on August 15, 1949 in Lewisburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Floyd William & Violet D. (Flory) Cassel. Kent was a 1967 graduate of Twin Valley North High School in Lewisburg and was a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Englewood, Ohio. Kent proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army where he received the Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5434 in Englewood.

Kent is preceded in death by his brothers: Norman, Phillip, Everett and Keith Cassel and is survived by his wife of 41 years: Deborah J. (Kreitzer) Cassel; son: Kent Douglas Cassel, Jr. of Dayton; daughters & son-in-law: Angela & Cameron Swanson of Dayton and Amanda Cassel of Troy, Ohio; brother & sister-in-law: Floyd & Jeanie Cassel of Greenville, Ohio; sisters & brother-in-law: Joyce Brail of Bullhead City, Arizona, Karen Gosnel of Trotwood, Ohio, Shirleene "Pickelpuss" & James Cooper of Florida and Sheila Cassel of Greenville, South Carolina; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 North Commerce Street, Lewisburg, Ohio with Ron Blades officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
