K. William “Bill” Horn, Jr., Transportation Economist Researcher and Businessman, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 86 in Alexandria, VA. Born on June 30, 1932 in Ann Arbor, MI, he was the son of the late Dr. Karl W. & Mary Elizabeth (Niswonger) Horn, Sr. Bill retired in 1989 from the Air Transport Association in Washington, D.C. where he served for 23 years as Asst. Vice President and Director of Research. Before joining ATA, Mr. Horn was employed with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as a Transportation Economist and the Transportation Association of America. He was a retired officer in the Army Reserve. During his early years, he worked for various railroad and trucking companies including the Great Northern, Erie and Pennsylvania. Throughout his life, Mr. Horn was involved in various non-transport related small business activities, including real estate and restaurants. Mr. Horn was a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Master’s Degree, The University of Tennessee, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Oakwood High School in Dayton, OH. He spent his summer vacations in Bear Lake, MI and winter vacations in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is a descendent of Henry Horn, founder of Lewisburg.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brother: David N. Horn in 1968.
Survived by his nephew, David R. Horn, and his niece, Elizabeth Horn Ozden, and their families.
A Public Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 17, 2018 in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Arrangements Entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, Lewisburg, OH. Condolences may be sent via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
