John William Deaton, age 80, of Eaton, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2005 in Eaton, OH. Born on April 5, 1925 in Preble County, OH he was the son of the late William Monroe and Elizabeth (Foutz) Deaton. John was a 1942 graduate of Monroe High School. He volunteered with Heifer Project International to take heifers to China in 1947. He also worked for United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration to help in China to increase their crop production and animal care in 1948. Owner and Operator of Deaton Farm Service, Inc. in Boston, IN for 26 years. John was a member of Eaton Church of The Brethren.
Survived by his Wife of 50 years: Dorothy E. (Gurr) Deaton; 6 Children: Diane (Yves) Falck of LaHaute Chapell, France; Ron (Pam) Deaton and Eva (Tom) Wolfe of Eaton, OH, Lois Deaton of Cincinnati, OH, Joyce Deaton of Eaton, OH and Pam (Scott) Hamilton of Duluth, GA. 12 Grandchildren: Matthew (Shauna) Deaton of Eaton, OH and Brad Deaton of Cincinnati, OH; Brian (Kristi) Deaton of Boston, IN; Vince, Lori and Kate Deaton of Eaton, OH; Edison, Alden and John Franklin of Cincinnati, OH; Luke, Pierce and Nathan Hamilton of Duluth, GA; Two Great Granddaughters: Mallory and Delaney Deaton. Sisters: Martha Mason of Shelbyville, MO and Grace Smith of Cedaredge, CO. Several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Mark and Daniel Deaton and sister: Esther Mason.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2005 - 10:30 am (Ohio Time) at Eaton Church of The Brethren - 1407 North Barron Street - Eaton, OH with Rev. Martin L. Peacock officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery - Eaton, OH. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM (Ohio Time) at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, OH and one hour prior to the service at the church.
