John W. Noe, Sr.

John W. Noe, Sr., 92, of West Alexandria, Ohio, died Monday, January 1, 2018 at his residence.

He was born January 30, 1925, at Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late Nelson and Mary Stone Noe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Garnett Marjorie Smith Noe on January 9, 2007; and a daughter, Betty Uhrig.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Lisa Noe, Jr. of West Alexandria; brother and sister-in-law, Emery and Hope Noe of Indian Lake, Ohio; grandchildren, Heather and husband Steve Fairs of Columbus, Ohio, Jason and wife Patty Uhrig also of Columbus, Jennifer Stultz of Villa Hills, Ky., Lee Vaughan of Knoxville, Tenn., Allen Vaughan of Houston, Texas, Morgan Newhart of Lake Wales, Fla. and Hunter Newhart of West Alexandria; four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Noe retired in 1997 from White Allen Chevrolet, Dayton, Ohio after over 30 years of service as the Body Shop Repair Manager. A decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze service stars, Bronze Star Medal, three Purple Hearts, American Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday, January 6 at the Newton United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Bob Crook officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Newton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
