John R. Evans

John R. Evans, 92 of Eaton, OH died Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Dayton, OH. Born on October 7, 1926 in Holmes County, Ohio, he was the son of the late William R. & Bertha M. (Platt) Evans. He was the owner/operator of Evans and Son Trophies and Awards. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran 2nd Division infantry, Past President and Member of the New Paris Chamber of Commerce, VFW, American Legion Post #360 in New Paris, Kiwanis Club in New Paris. John was a hard worker, nature lover, bird watching, telling stories and he never met a stranger. 

Preceded in death by his Wife of 35 years: Frances Joan “Jody” (Smedinghoff) Evans in 1984; Sisters: Mildred Miller and Margret Harvey; Brothers: Max, Robert and Charles Evans. 

Survived by Son: William F. “Billy” (Tammy Jenkins) Evans; Daughter: Karen Hawkins. Granddaughters: Tabatha Jenkins, Nicky Evans and Lilly Evans. Nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH with Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Interment will be held in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, OH. Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
