John J. Brower

JOHN J. “JAKE” BROWER, age 88 of Annandale, Virginia, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at his residence. He was born on January 5, 1918 in Preble County, Ohio, son of the late Lester O. & Ida M. (Fox) Brower. Jake was a 40 year resident of Farmersville, Ohio before moving to Michigan, Florida, and Virginia. He worked at the Farmersville Feed & Mill for over 17 years and worked for the Sheffield/Bendix Company of Dayton, Ohio. Jake proudly served in the US Army during World War II. Member of the Odd Fellows for over 60 years. Jake was also a volunteer fireman of Farmersville, Ohio for 15 years. He is preceded in death by his daughter: Kathleen Hopkins; sons: John J. Brower, Jr. And Marvin Brower; brothers: Clyde Brower, Noah Brower, Charles Brower, and Leroy Brower; sisters; Bessie Brower, Rosalie Miller, Anna Foust, Icy Ernst, Eileen Glander, Caroline McKee, and Mary Deeter.

Survived by his wife of 69 years: B. Eleanora (Shingledecker) Brower of Annadale, Virginia; daughter & son-in-law: Gayle & Francis Toth of Annandale, Virginia; brother & sister-in-law: Henry & Mary Brower of West Alexandria, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce St. - Lewisburg, Ohio with Pastor Rod Brower officiating. Interment will be held in Arlington Cemetery at Brookville, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
