John H. Captain

John H. Captain, age 74, of New Paris, Ohio died Monday May 31, 2004 at his residence. Born on February 5, 1930 in Oklahoma he was the son of the late Oscar & Elsie (Davis) Captain. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force and was a Self employed Contractor. Past Member of New Paris EMS, Past President of New Paris Kiwanis Club, New Paris Boosters Club and had been a coach for Little League Baseball, Pee Wee Football and Basketball in New Paris. Preceded in death by his wife B. Charlene Captain in 2002, Brothers: Ralph Captain, Don Captain, Edwin Captain and Harold Captain.

Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law: Steve & Lisa Captain of Navarre, FL, Daughter and son-in-law: Donna & James M. Sheppard of New Paris, Ohio; Brother: Leonard (Loretta) Captain of Miamisburg, Ohio, Sister: Betty (Herb) Cressel of Brookville, Ohio and Sister-in-law: Betty Captain of Lynchburg, Ohio; Four Grandchildren: Taryna Johnson, Jaymi Sheppard, Derek Captain and Katie Captain. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M.(OhioTime) Thursday, June 3, 2004 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Alan D. Keesling officiating. Interment will be in Springlawn cemetery - New Paris, Ohio with full military services provide by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Wednesday - June 2, 2004 from 5 to 8 P.M. (Ohio Time) at the funeral home.
