PFC. JOEL R. RAUSCHENBACH, age 19, of Eaton, Ohio, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 from injuries sustained in an accident on U.S. 35 in Pliny, West Virginia. Born on June 4, 1983 in Oxford, Ohio. He was a 2001 Eaton High School graduate where he was a member of the Eaton Cross Country team that participated in the State finals. In July of 2001 Joel enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a Topographical Analyst/ Specialist with the 82nd Airborne stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He had just completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton, Ohio and was the 1998 Junior Orienteering United States Champion and a member of the elite US Junior team which traveled to the World Championship in the Czech Republic representing the United States.

Survivors include: His Parents: Jon and Jone D.(Hardin) Rauschenbach of Eaton, Ohio; Maternal Grandparents: Nelson and Janet Hardin of Eaton, Ohio; Maternal Great Grandfather: Leonard L. Duke of Eaton, Ohio; Maternal Great Grandmother: Nora Hardin of Eaton, Ohio; Paternal Grandparents: Don and Jeanette Bradley of Florida and Kenneth Rauschenbach of New Philadelphia, Ohio; Brother: Jay Rauschenbach of Eaton, Ohio. Aunts and Uncles and Cousins.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 - 10:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church - 111 Lutheran Drive - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Brian & Rev. Suzanne Dillahunt officiating. Interment will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio with full military honors by the U. S. Army Honor Guard . Family will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street- Eaton, Ohio.
