Joan E. Erwin

JOAN E. ERWIN, age 82, formerly of Eaton, Ohio died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Hamilton, Ohio. Born on March 1, 1924 at Eaton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy M. & May D. (Shields) Cooper. She graduated Eaton High School in 1942 and Miami Jacobs Business College in 1943. She retired 1985 after working three years as secretary for Eaton Lighting Company and 14 years as a Title I Aide and Librarian for Talawanda School District. She married James V. Erwin on June 2, 1946 at the Eaton Presbyterian Church. She resided in Somers Township on the farm for over 40 years. She was a member of the West Elkton Friends Meeting, Preble County Farm Bureau Discussion Group #12, Epicurean Club, Gratis Homemakers, Collinsville Housewives Club, Oxford Senior Citizens, and several card clubs. Preceded in death by her husband: James V. Erwin in 1995.

Survived by her daughters & son-in-law: Karen S. Erwin of Denver, Colorado, Diana L. Tannehill of Hollister, Missouri, Sarah L. & Joseph Herzog of Shandon, Ohio, and Teresa I. Erwin & Chuck Mullins of Somerville, Ohio; brother: Robert Cooper of Eaton, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 - 10:00 a.m. at West Elkton Friends Meeting - 171 South Main Street - West Elkton, Ohio with Philip Johnson and Joanna Schofield officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmound Cemetery in West Elkton, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nein - Barnes Funeral Home - 249 North Main Street - Camden, Ohio.
