Jeanne Goff Vance

Jeanne Goff Vance, 74, died on March 22, 2015, with her brother John Goff by her side. She was born to the late Gilbert and Louise Goff, in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 7, 1940. Jeanne was married to the late Kenneth Vance for 38 years. She was preceded in death by three beloved sisters: Gloria Boyle, Shirley Malueg, and Janet Ohl.

She is survived by her brother John Goff, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved: Deborah Garcia, Denise McClanahan, Mark Ohl, Matthew Ohl, Laura Goff, John Goff, Sherry Manzano, and Kathy McCann.

Jeanne was a kind, hard-working, intelligent woman whose latest hobbies were her family's genealogy, reading, and renovating her home. She was an extraordinary baseball and softball athlete. As a child she played on boys teams, but at age 10 was informed she wasn't wanted anymore because she played better than the boys. Beginning at the age of 15, Jeanne toured the country with a women's professional softball league. Jeanne loved animals and brought in seven stray barn cats and cared for them lovingly until they died of old age. Before retirement she was a top-level accountant, and enjoyed flying airplanes and gliders. She once flew a small plane to England to join a tour group in Yorkshire, where they visited places where the author James Herriot had lived. Her family remembers her humor, her loving heart, and her generosity. To know her was to love her. She has gone home to be with her Lord, trusting that in Him, she and her life will be made whole.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Northside Community Church, 5100 Dickerson Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations by check to be given in her name to the Preble County Victim Witness Program, 123 Cherry St., Eaton, OH 45320, or YWCA Shelter Services, PO Box 306, Eaton, OH 45320.

As Jeanne said, "We women must stick together!" These programs mostly help women and children who are victims of abuse and other crimes.
"I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death."
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
Hosea 13:14
1 Corinthians 15:55
