James L. Skiles

James L. Skiles, 55, of New Paris, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on September 12, 1969 in Dayton, Ohio.

He was a 1987 graduate of National Trail High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked at Matthews Casket in Richmond, Indiana where he painted caskets. He enjoyed wrestling, going to garage sales, collecting Marine Corp. memorabilia, watching his favorite television shows and playing computer games

Survived by his Sons and Daughters-in-law: Lance S. (Taryn) Skiles, and Joseph P. (Doniqua) Skiles; Father: Larry J. (Kay) Skiles; Mother: Bonnie S. (Coleman) (David) Hunter; Companion: Nanette Markley; Granddaughter, Valorie Skiles; Siblings: Robert (Susan) Wheeler, Matt (Lori) Wheeler, Amber (Jess) Clark and Jackie (Jim Adkins); Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and a host of friends. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. The interment with military honors will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris.
