JAMES R. NEWMAN, age 76, formerly of Eaton, Ohio died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Heartland of Urbana, Ohio. Born on November 12, 1927 in Preble County, Ohio, he was the son on the late Herbert D. & Huldah C. (Mt Castle) Newman. A 1945 Graduate of Jackson High School in Preble County, he attended Ohio State University and was a WW II U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1982 from the Delco Moraine plant of General Motors after 33 years of service. Member of the 25 year club of Delco Moraine; Charter member of the Full Gospel Businessmen of Preble County, served as the Worship Psalmist of the Oak Park Church of God and presently attended the Living Word Church - Vandalia, Ohio.
Survived by: Wife of 40 years Patricia (Dungan) Newman and children Teresa M. (Cox) Rose of Vandalia, Ohio and Edward D. Newman of Vandalia, Ohio. His first wife: Eleanor “Gale” (Minnix) Tucker of Aurora, Indiana and children: Paul F. Newman of Eaton, Ohio, Rita J. Newman of Houston, Texas, Tina G. Newman of Middletown, Ohio and Daniel R. Newman of Hamilton, Ohio. Brother: Francis “Gene” Newman of Richmond, Indiana. Sisters: Donna A. Goodwin of Sebring, Florida, Betty J. Barker of Eaton, Ohio and Ruth Anna Goodpasture of Bourbonnais, Illinois. Nine Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M.(Ohio Time) Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Twin Creek Cemetery on Yohe Road near West Manchester, Ohio with Pastor Patrick Murray officiating. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M.(Ohio Time) Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Living Word Church - 250 Cassel Road - Vandalia, Ohio 45377.
