James Robert Neiswander Sr., 91, of R.R. New Paris, OH, died peacefully Sunday, September 8, 2013, at his residence. He was born September 26, 1921 in Dayton, OH, the only child of Alvin & Olive M. (Fritz) Neiswander. On September 26, 1942, he married Dorothy J. Ertel, who died January 4, 2012. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #779 and the Scottish Rite, both of Dayton, OH. James served in the United States Army Air Corps, and had the pleasure of being among the Preble County World War II veterans who visited the National World War II Veterans Memorial, Washington, D.C. in March, 2008. He was retired from Montgomery Ward, Richmond, IN in the sales department. Following his retirement, he and Dorothy travelled extensively, including world-wide trips. He enjoyed attending old-time car shows, and went to many steam engine train shows, riding as many as possible. He also shared Dorothy's love of flowers, birds, and nature.
Survivors include his son James R. (Rosemary) Neiswander Jr. of New Paris, OH; daughter Bonnie (Jeff) Fannin of Richmond, IN.; 4 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend special Thanks to Marj Denlinger, R.N. and Elayne Toney, both from Reid Hospice.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 12, 2013 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 7:30 PM at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, OH, with a Masonic Service at 7:30PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Central Rescue Squad, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family via Guest Book at www.barnesfuneralhome.com.
