James O. Gross

JAMES O. GROSS, 87 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Monday, January 7, 2008 in Brookville, Ohio. Born on November 6, 1920 in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Dewey G. & Pearl (Rogers) Gross. Jim retired in 1976 from the Twin Valley South School District having served as both elementary and high school principal. He had taught in Kentucky for two years prior to moving to the Dayton area, He worked 10 years for United Aircraft in Dayton, served as Elementary Principal in O.R. Edgington School in Englewood, taught two years for Dayton City Schools. A Miami University graduate and was a 50 member of the Masonic Lodge in Lewisburg having served as past master and worthy patron of the Eastern Star. Preceded in death by 1 Brother and 2 Sisters.

Survived by his Wife of 67 years: Florence (Combs) Gross; Brother: Paul E. Gross, Miamisburg, Ohio, Sisters-in-law: Grazia K. Combs, Hazard, KY, Frances C. Cox, Silver Spring, Maryland. Brother-in-law: Otto Kellian Combs, Connersville, IN. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service in Ohio will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at the Gordon United Methodist Church - 311 East Street - Gordon, Ohio with Pastor David Hood officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Masonic Service will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the church.

Funeral service in Kentucky will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2008 at the Brashear Funeral Home - 7124 Kentucky Hwy 7 - Viper, Kentucky. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the William Brashear Cemetery, Viper, Kentucky.
