James Herbert Booher

JAMES HERBERT "HERB" BOOHER, 84, of Eaton, Ohio died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Reid Hospital and Healthcare Services in Richmond, Indiana. He was born on February 25, 1925 in Corcoran, California, son of the late Kenneth M. and Mary(Barr) Booher. Herb was a 1943 graduate of Jackson High School in Campbellstown, Preble County, Ohio and was a life long farmer in Jackson Township. He was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran and served on the USS Midway. Member of the Concord United Church of Christ in Dixon Township. Former member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. . In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandson, David Allen Booher in 1969.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Zelma (Abner) Booher; sons & daughters-in-law, David L. & Nellie Booher of Greenville, Ohio, Gary S. & Janet Booher of Eaton and Ernie W. Booher & partner Betty Williams of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughters & sons-in-law, Judie L. & Ron Mann of Newnan, Georgia and Connie J. & Tony Hurst of Eaton; sister & brother-in-law, Mabel & Bob Combs of Eaton; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephew.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Concord United Church of Christ, 2225 Concord Fairhaven Rd., Eaton, Ohio 45320 with Rev. James Sizelove and Rev. Richard VanTine officiating. Interment with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio and one hour prior to the service at the church.
