JAMES D. ALCORN, age 63, of Moraine, Ohio and formerly of New Paris, Ohio died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Kettering Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Born on December 9, 1941 in Liberty, Indiana, he was the son of Herman B. & Romalee (Ruebush) Alcorn. James was a 1959 graduate of Liberty High School in Liberty, Indiana and retired in 2002 after 36 years of service with Sprint in the Eaton, New Paris, and Arcanum Offices. He attended the First Baptist Church in Germantown, Ohio. Preceded in death by Wife of 40 years: Karen L. (Bennett) Alcorn in 2003; Father: Herman B. Alcorn.
Survived by fiancee: Laura L. Ward of Moraine, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law: Veronica L. & Cary Long of Monroe, Ohio; son & daughter-in-law: Chris A. & Samantha Alcorn of Eldorado, Ohio; Mother: Romalee Alcorn of Richmond, Indiana; brothers & sisters-in-law: Kenny & Sue Alcorn of Liberty, Indiana, Herb & Shelly Alcorn of Richmond, Indiana, and Larry & Carol Alcorn of Arizona. Five Grandchildren: Megan Long, Nicholas Alcorn, Aaron Alcorn, Sara Hollingsworth, and Katie Hollingsworth.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Ted Ricci officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery - New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church - Building Fund - 79 Farmersville Pike - Germantown, Ohio 45327.
