James Carl Conard, 98, formerly of the Eldorado area, passed away September 4, 2007 in Englewood, FL.
Carl was born November 6, 1908 in Wilmington, OH to James L. & Daisy E. (Ross) Conard. He was a 1926 graduate of Spring Valley High School, and a graduate of Miami Jacobs Business College. He was married 54 years to Hazel G. Griffy, who died in 1983.
Carl worked as an accountant for several years in the Wilmington and Waynesville area. In 1947 he moved his family to Preble County to become the owner-operator of the Conard grain elevators in Eldorado and Lewisburg, and later became a farmer. He was a 68 year member and Past Master of Waynesville Lodge 163 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister Dorothy Pettyjohn; brother Harold Conard; son-in-law Dave Fark; grandson Dean J. Fark (12-27-00).
Survivors include a son, Charles R. Conard (Beverly) of Eaton and a daughter Dorothy J. Fark of Eldorado; 6 grandchildren: Vicki (Randy) Livingston, Joni (Conrad) Rizzolo, Teri (Tom) Roby, Jay (Judy) Conard, Dawn Limburg, Doug (Mary) Fark; 14 great-grandchildren: Greg (Summer) Livingston, Jeff (Danielle) Livingston, Robin Cottone, Todd Rizzolo, David (Jessica) Roby, Matt Roby, Laura Conard, Brian Conard, Kaitlin Pierson, Dustin & Devin Limburg, Jon, Matt, & Josh Day; 4 great-great grandchildren: Kate & Owen Livingston, Ava Cottone, Damian Roby.
Family & friends are welcome to attend a Graveside Service to celebrate the life of James Carl Conard, on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 11:00AM at Wares Chapel Cemetery, Foos Rd., West Manchester, OH. A luncheon will follow at the Eldorado Unitarian Universalist Church. Memorial donations are requested to FAIM – Families and Amputees in Motion, P.O. Box 494603, Port Charlotte, FL. 33949-4603.
