Herbert S. Tinstman, age 88 of Eaton, Ohio died Sunday morning, November 27, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. Born on August 13, 1917 in Medina County, Ohio he was the son of the late Daniel & Nelle (Stevens) Tinstman. Herb was a W.W. II U.S. Army Mechanized Cavalry Captain veteran receiving the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in action in Germany. He had lived in Wooster and Orrville, Ohio moving to Eaton in 1968. Herb had been a farmer, businessman, student at Kent State University and Akron University, in plant management, a county manager of an Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service office and part owner in an implement dealership and a car salesman. Assistant Manager of Federal Land Bank in Wooster and Manager of Eaton Federal Land Bank retiring in 1979 after 17 years service. Member of Eaton Church of the Brethren, Gideons International and the Farm Bureau Council. Co-Organizer of the Preble County Pork Festival. Preceded in death by Sister: Laura Jean Walsh; Daughter-In-Law: Marilyn Tinstman.

Survivors include his Wife: Mildred C. (Brown) Tinstman married October 9, 1941 in Wooster, Ohio. Sons & Daughter-in-law: David Tinstman and Dean & Susan Tinstman; Daughter: Debra Tinstman all of Eaton, Ohio. Grandchildren: Chad & Mandy Tinstman; Molly & Clayton Hurd, Michael & Maria Tinstman, Matthew Tinstman, Daniel Tinstman and Andrew Tinstman, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM Thursday, December 1st , 2005 at Eaton Church of The Brethren - 1407 North Barron Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Martin Peacock and Rev. Mark Gardner officiating. Interment will be held in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio with full military graveside services provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 30th , 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton - 324 Wilmington Ave. - Dayton, Ohio 45420; Eaton Church of the Brethren - Building Fund - P.O. Box 122 - Eaton, Ohio 45320 or Gideons International - Preble County Chapter - P.O. Box 141 - Eaton, Ohio 45320.
