Herbert D. Doan

Herbert D. “Herb” Doan, age 77, of New Paris, Ohio died Friday morning, March 28, 2003 at his residence after a short illness. Born on November 15, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio he was the son of the late Daniel T. & Lauretta (Coldiron) Doan. Herb served with the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. In 1988 he retired from NATCO of Richmond, Indiana after 35 years of service. He was a member of the NATCO 25 year Club; Past Master of the Fellowship Lodge #106 F.& A.M. of New Paris, Ohio; Eaton Chapter #22; Preble Council #135; Past High Priest; Past Illustrious Master; Former Member of Eastern Star at New Paris; V.F.W. Post # 8066 of Eaton and the Church of The Open Door of Richmond, Indiana. Preceded in death by Three Brothers: Clarence Doan in 1965; Harold Reynolds in 2000 and Robert Reynolds in 2001.

Survived by Wife of 56 years: Barbara A. (Blue) Doan; Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Wayne M. & Sharon A. Doan of New Paris, Ohio and Mark D. & Sue E. Doan of Williamsburg, Ind. Daughter & Friend: Cynthia A. Stinson & Billy Tannehill of Dexter, Mo.; Sisters: Mary E. (Robert) Garrett of West Alexandria, Ohio and Katherine A. (Ralph) Seals of Somerville, Ohio. 8 Grandchildren: Jeannine (Shannon) Rothwell of West Manchester, Ohio; Jennifer (Brent) Hollinger of New Madison, Ohio; James (Katie Tague) Doan of Indianapolis, Ind.; Amy (Craig) Vickery of Winchester, Ind.; Lisa Doan of Williamsburg, Ind.; Coty (& Friend Jason Hunter) Stinson of Richmond, Ind. Twins: Collin & Clinton Stinson of Dexter, Mo.; 5 Great Grandchildren: Christopher & Kristen Rothwell; Alisha & Joshua Hollinger and Katelyn Doan; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 11:30 AM at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main Street - New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Ron Sweigart officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio with Full Military Graveside Services provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2003 from 3 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home.
