Hattie Ellen O'Dell Hartman, formerly of Eaton, Ohio, was known for her hospitality and zest for living. She died at the age of 98 on Sunday afternoon, September 5, 2004, at the Regency Place of Castleton Nursing Home in Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to Indianapolis in 2001. Born on March 24, 1906 in Bristol, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Cora E. (Moore) Green.
She retired in 1956 from Formica in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the owner/operator of a restaurant with her husband, Ernie, in North Miami Beach, Florida from 1956 to 1960. They moved back to Cincinnati and were again in the restaurant business. She returned to Eaton in 1978. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Eaton.
Preceded in death by first Husband: Roy R. O'Dell in 1954 and second Husband: Ernest F. Hartman in 1971; Daughter: Joyce Eileen Fort in 1999; Son: Victor Ray O'Dell in 1996; Sisters: Cordelia Davis in 1997, Berdine Purtee in 1995, Laura Kate Green and Marcella Laws in 1954, and Maxine Virginia Green in 1923; Brother: Luther (Bud) Green in 2000.
Survived by Sisters: Freda Ramsey of Charleston, South Carolina, Hazel Harr of Ocala, Florida, and Nellie Tillett of Huber Heights, Ohio. 3 Grandchildren: Ed Fort of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael Fort of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bob Fort of Las Vegas, Nevada. 8 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family in Mound Hill Union Cemetery - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Michael D. Fort officiating.
There will be no public calling. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
