Harold E. Geeting

Harold E. Geeting, 84, of Eaton, OH died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Vancrest of Eaton. Born on February 2, 1933 in Preble County, Ohio he was the son of the late John I. & Edith M. (Bragg) Geeting. Harold was a 1951 Eaton High School graduate, 1955 graduate of The Ohio State University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had retired in 1992 from the Preble County Soil & Water Conservation District. Harold was active in many Eaton and Preble County communities' organizations. Preble County Food Bank Volunteer; Preble County Genealogy Society; Ohio Historical Society; Eaton Church of The Brethren; V.F.W. Post of Eaton; Optimist International; Eaton City School Board member; 4 H Advisor; Preble County Rural Zoning Board; City of Eaton Zoning Board; and the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. Preceded in death by son: Matthew B. Geeting in 2000.

Survived by wife of 50 years: Brenda B. (Longshore) Geeting; daughter: Amy L. Howard of Eaton, OH; grandchildren: Bree Anne & Terry Hancock, Alexis K. Geeting, Fred W. Howard IV and Ethan I. Howard; great granddaughter: Luna N. Hancock; brother: Robert E. Geeting of Eaton, OH aunt: Helena Geeting of Eaton, OH; Niece: Cindy Schiefer, Nephew: John Geeting and other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 19, 2017 at Barnes Funeral Home 220 East Main Street Eaton, Ohio. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday May 20, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Stan VanAusdal officiating. Interment will be at Preble Memory Gardens with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
