Gerald C. Martz

GERALD C. MARTZ, 92, of Eaton, OH, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Arbor Trace Healthcare Center in Richmond, IN. Gerald was born on June 26, 1919 in Eaton, OH, son of the late Chester and J. Edna (Kelley) Martz. He was a 1938 graduate of Eaton High School and was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corp veteran. He worked for over 30 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he was a Maintenance Control Manager. Gerald was a member of the 20th Troop Carrier Squadron, the American Legion Post 213 in Eaton and the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Laura Jane Martz in 2009; brother, Robert F. Martz and sister, Barbara J. Horigan.

Gerald is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Pam and Chuck Hester of Eaton and Jill Martz of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Thomas C. (Katie) Hester, Emily J. (Steve) Philips, Robert L. Hester and Michelle Hurst; great grandchildren, Madeline Jane Philips; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 in Mound Hill Cemetery with Rev. Chris Farmer officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will be provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
