Gaylen E. Rice

GAYLEN E. RICE, 88 of Lewisburg, OH, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. Born on March 19, 1923 in Preble County, OH, he was the son of the late C. Wilbur & Esta L. (Smith) Rice. Gaylen was a 1941 graduate of Verona High School, a WWII United States Army veteran and was retired from Delco Products in Dayton where he was a millwright for 39 years.

Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. "Betty" Rice; brothers, Keith and Kenneth Rice and sisters, Corrine Hall, Eileen Ostaszewski and Geraldine Cullers.

Gaylen is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gayle Ann "Rice" & James Lum of New Carlisle, OH; brother, William "Russell" Rice of Brookville, OH; grandsons, Joshua (Michelle) Lum and Jacob Lum and great grandson, Matthew Lum; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce Street, Lewisburg, OH with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
