Fredrick M. Wheeler, 89, of Eldorado, OH died Wednesday, September 17that the Veteran's Hospital in Dayton. He was born March 18, 1914, near West Manchester, OH, the son of David Ira & Clara Ethel (Kern) Wheeler. He attended, and was a graduate of, Arcanum School. On July 4, 1936, he married Wilma R. Richards, who preceded him in death on May 3rd, 1999. Fred served in the US Army Air Corp from February of 1943 to October of 1945. He was a self-employed contractor and carpenter, and a part-time employee of the Village of Eldorado from 1978 - 1994. He served on the village council for 12 years, was Mayor of the village for 2 years, and was a member of the Eldorado United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David K. and Harry H. Wheeler, and 1 sister, Alice Moyer.
Survivors include 2 sons, James P. Wheeler of Laurelville, OH and Steven J. Wheeler of Eldorado; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews. His request was that his body be donated to the Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, so that others could learn from his life and his death.
A Memorial Service for Fredrick M. Wheeler will be held Saturday, October 4th, 2003, 7:30PM at the Eldorado United Methodist Church with Pastor Tung Pau officiating. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the North Central Rescue Squad, Eldorado Fire Department, or the Eldorado United Methodist Church, Envelopes will be available at the church.
