Francis Edward “Ed” Wilt, Jr., age 84 of New Paris, Ohio died Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. He was born on May 9, 1940, in Eaton, Ohio, son of the late Francis Edward and Mildred C. (Cottingham) Wilt, Sr. He attended Eaton High School and served with the Ohio National Guard. He retired after 25 years as an Engineer with the Preble County Engineers’ Office and worked as a dispatcher for the City of Eaton. Ed dedicated his time to Law Enforcement with the Eaton, Lewisburg, and Camden Police Departments, serving as Police Chief in Camden. He was also a past member of the Eaton Fire Department. An avid motorcyclist, Ed loved to spend time at Ike’s Bike Shop in Richmond, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Patsy J. (Neanover)Wilt in 2009; son: David Lee Bane and sisters, Peggy Crowe in 1988 and Nancy Jane Wilt in 2007.
He is survived by his sons, Phillip Edward Wilt, Jerome L. Wilt, and Jerry W. Myers, grandchildren, nephews, niece, and cousins.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Grove Cemetery, St. Rt. 503, West Alexandria, Ohio with Rev. Wayne Ward officiating.
