FLOYD J. DEMPSEY, age 82 of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Dayton, Ohio died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 in Pinellas Park, Florida. Born on March 18, 1923 in Kennan, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Clarence & Annie (Schuller) Dempsey. He had worked for Dayton Tire and Rubber in Dayton for over 37 years and was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union. A WW II U.S. Army veteran and active member of the American Legion Gulfport Post #125 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Owner/Operator of Floyd’’s Baby Jungle in Florida which specialized in plants & cactus and succulents and was a proud member of the Democratic Party. Preceded in death by his wife: Geneva (O’’Connor) Dempsey in 1991; Daughter: Dorothy Liette in 2004 and Great Grandson: Logan Sizemore in 1988, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
Survived Daughters & Sons-in-law: Betty & James Sizemore, Lewisburg, Ohio; Janie & Kerlin McManious, Spotsylvania, Virginia; Penny & Dale Mitchell, Clayton, Ohio. Son & Daughter-in-law: Floyd & Sharon Dempsey, Dayton, Ohio. Son-in-law: Thomas Liette, St. Henry, Ohio; Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren: David Sizemore and son Harrison, Edward (Kathy) Sizemore and daughter Sierra Studebaker, Joy (George) Doviak and son and daughter Andrew & Olivia Doviak, Matthew (Carlianne) Liette and son and daughter Zachary & Annalyn Liette, E. Brock (Laura) Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, Shawn Dempsey and daughter and son Desiree McKown, Cody Dempsey, Jill Dempsey and son Richard Cole.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2005 - 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church - 511 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio with Pastor Brent L. Cavendish officiating. Interment with military honors will be held in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 9, 2005 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio and one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday.
