Everett H. Howard, 90, of Camden, OH, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Vancrest Nursing Center in Eaton. Born on March 17, 1923 in Big Rock, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Alfred & Effie G. (Harrison) Howard. Everett retired in 1983 after 25 years at Miami University in Oxford. He was a graduate of the Stewart County School system in Dover, TN. He attended the Oxford Baptist Church, member of the Middletown Masonic Temple – Jefferson #90, Eaton Optimist Club and was Citizen of the Years in Oxford, OH in 1980. He served as a Cub and Boy Scout leader in the Camden area for many years, a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. He was instrumental in registering the Bear Spring, Tennessee Civil War Furnace Stack in the National Register. Preceded in death by Son: Terrence "Terry" Howard in 2006; Sisters: Evelyn Smith, Muriel Sones and Yvonne Mitzel.
Survived by Wife of 64 years: Mary Louise (Lokey) Howard; Daughters: Eva E. Howard and Charletta Howard, both of Camden; Sister: Imogene Smith, Clarksville, TN; Brother: John Robert Howard, Kyle, TX.
Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Nein-Barnes Funeral Home, 249 North Main Street, Camden, OH 45311 with Fred Schmidt officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmount Cemetery in Camden with military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 3 – 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Preble County Board of Development Disabilities, 200 Eaton – Lewisburg Road, Eaton, OH 45320.
