Evelyn Lenore (Duckwall) Duffield, age 95, formerly of New Paris, Ohio died, Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Arbor Trace Nursing Home in Richmond, Indiana. Born on August 31, 1912 in Westerville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Rev. George & Myrtle Belle (Hiestand) Duckwall. She graduated in 1930 from Monroe High School in Monroe Township, Preble County, Ohio. Evelyn graduated in 1934 from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio with an Bachelors Degree in Home Economics & Science. Evelyn retired in 1973 after 22 years as a Home Economics & Science Teacher for Lanier, Arcanum, Jefferson, Jackson and National Trail Schools. Member of Ohio Education Association. Member of the Preble County Retired Teachers Association. Member of the Triple L Club. Member of the Tuesday Club. Member of the Gypsy African Violet Club. Member of the Preble County Farm Bureau. Member of the Red Hat Society of the Brethren Home in Greenville, Ohio. She was a 4-H Club Leader in Preble County, Ohio. Evelyn was a 4-H Judge at the Preble County Fair for several years. Member of the First United Presbyterian Church in New Paris, Ohio. Member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Greenville, Ohio.
Preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Duffield in 1974; brothers, Glen Duckwall, George Duckwall, Bernard Duckwall, Marion Duckwall and Carl Duckwall.
Survived by her sons & daughter-in-law, George & Marsha Duffield of O'Fallon, Illinois and Jim Duffield of Boulder, Colorado; sisters & brother-in-law, Mary & Earl Heskett of Springfield, Ohio and Joan Kemper of Ridgeland, Mississippi; grandchildren, Attorney Michelle L. & Dr. Gregory VanWiggeren of San Jose, California and Robert Duffield of O'Fallon, Illinois; great grandchildren, Daniel & Timothy VanWiggeren of San Jose, California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at First United Presbyterian Church, 15 North Spring Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. Dennis Andrews officiating. A Visitation was held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio. Burial was held at the convenience of the family in Spring Lawn cemetery.
