Evelyn I Steele

Evelyn I. Steele, age 93 of New Paris, OH, died on Friday, January 9, 2015 at her residence. Evelyn was born on August 5, 1921 in Montgomery County, OH the daughter of the late John & Ethel Leona (Minnick) Brown. She was a homemaker and loved cooking, summer flowers and playing cards. Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Merlin F. Steele in 1997; sisters: Mary Sowers, Viola Bowling and Virginia Reid; brothers: Vernon Ned Brown, Albert Brown and Charles Brown.

Survived by her daughter: Barbara J. Westbrook of New Paris, OH; sons & daughter-in-law: Donald E. Steele, David L. & Susan Steele both of New Paris, OH and James A. Steele of West Manchester, OH; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Vera Brunk of Verona, OH, Helen Wogoman and Edna Sowers both of Arcanum, OH; brother: Dale Brown of Richmond, IN.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, OH. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 13, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery – New Paris, OH.
