Evalena Filbrun Brubaker

Evalena Filbrun Brubaker, age 92, of Eaton, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008 in Eaton. Born on June 22, 1915 in New Carlisle, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late I.J. and Ella (Studebaker) Filbrun. When she was 9 years old she moved to Tucson, Arizona where she lived until she was 15 and then returned to New Carlisle, OH. She was a 1933 Elizabeth High School Graduate in Troy, Ohio. Evalena was married to Ward E. Brubaker, son of the late Clarence and Maude (Eby) Brubaker, on Nov. 15, 1936. In the fall of 1938 they received the call of their Savior and were baptized in Twin Creek becoming members of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, West Alexandria, Ohio. She lived faithful to her Lord all her life. Ward and Evalena were married 67 years and resided in Preble County. Evalena was a bookkeeper for Quality Grain, Inc. for many years as she worked tirelessly beside her husband. Evalena had a special way about her that so many loved and she loved so many in return. She immensely enjoyed the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Eugene David Filbrun in 1993, her husband Ward on Feb. 2, 2005, and her son-in-law Robert Crosier on Aug. 31, 2006. Evalena is survived by her daughter, Karen Crosier, Eaton, Ohio and son and daughter-in-law, Reid Brubaker and Elizabeth (Hubbard) Brubaker, Gallipolis, Ohio; 5 grandchildren: Dawn Johnson and husband Ray, Dirk Crosier and wife Denise, Delk Crosier and wife Shelly, Ross Brubaker and Sarah Bochard; 8 Great Grandchildren: Jessica Johnson, Denee Rohrer and husband Travis, Darad Crosier, Hanna Garber and husband Doug, Denver, Katelyn, Ella and Winston Crosier. 2 Great-Great granddaughters: Dezirae and Alexandra Rohrer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday February 16, 2008 from 9am-11am at the Upper Twin Old German Baptist Church - 3614 Halderman Rd. West Alexandria, Ohio. Funeral service immediately following visitation at 11:00am. Interment will be held in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
