EUNICE S. MILLER, age 89 of Lewisburg, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Eunice was born on July 16, 1915 daughter of Omar T. & Edith L. (Hayes) Smith on a farm one and one-half miles south of West Manchester, Ohio. She attended Lock’s #8 one-room school on Grover Road for eight years and in 1929 attended Lewisburg Union School for four years, graduating with the class of 1933. In the fall of 1933, she married James B. Miller. They settled on a farm on Eaton-Lewisburg Road. Eunice attended Twin Creek Chapel Church and Sunday School. Eunice & James moved to a farm on Sonora Road in 1948 after living in town for a couple of years and was content and busy taking care of the family. Member of Commodore Preble Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution of Eaton, Ohio; Simon Kenton Daughters of 1812; Past Secretary of Colonial Dames of XVII Century, Captain Jan Van Strycker Chapter; Past Secretary of Harrison Township Extension Homemakers; Preble County Historical Society; Preble County Genealogical Society; 1st Families of Preble County 1805 and member of the Lewisburg First United Church of Christ; Women’s Guild and Young at Heart. Preceded in death by Husband: James B. Miller in 1982; Daughter: Joanne Drexler in 2000; Brothers: Herbert C. Smith in 1979 and Loran E. Smith in 1999.
Survived by Sons & Daughters-in-law: James O. & Judy Miller, West Manchester, Ohio, Ronald E. & Carolyn Miller, Lewisburg, Ohio, Richard L. Miller, San Diego, California; Daughters & Sons-in-law: Marilyn & Mel Fryman, Lewisburg, Ohio, Karol Riegel, Canal Winchester, Ohio, Diana & Jim Poppaw, Kettering, Ohio; Sister: Mary E. Heck, Lewisburg, Ohio; 16 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 17, 2005 - 10:30 A.M. (Ohio Time) at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, OH. with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2005 from 5 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
