Gene was employed by Fisher Body of Hamilton for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Fairhaven, OH. He served in the Army National Guard in Eaton. Gene was known for his quick sense of humor, he loved the game of golf and played with his good friends Gordon White and Sonny Hileman. He played softball for many years and also loved a good game of bridge, playing weekly before his recent illness with his favorite partner, his wife Joan. But what he loved most, was being surrounded by his family and friends playing the guitar and singing. At many family events, he could be found playing and leading all of us in the old hymns that our parents loved so much and the many songs that they knew so well. He will always be near us whenever we hear the musical strains of Whispering Hope or I’m My Own Grandpa. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to especially thank Vitas Hospice of Cincinnati for all of their deep care and concern.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Dr., Eaton with Pastor Warren Reichert officiating. Interment will be held in Butler County Memorial Park.
