REV. EMMA D. STROUPE, age 86, of Eaton, Ohio and formerly of Camden, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. She was born on November 8, 1918 and reared in Concord, North Carolina by Beulah and Sam Kiser. She graduated from Bible College in Bradenton, Florida and married Revis W. Stroupe at the age of 19. Together they held pastorate at churches in several states. She got the call to be a missionary at a young age. After working 15 years for Hart Mgt. Co. in Eaton, she quit to travel the world. She started as a missionary to Haiti, Jamaica and Mexico in the 1970's. At the age of 65 in 1983 she began her mission work in Africa, which continued until she was 80 yrs old. She fed, clothed, supported, taught and preached to people in more than 11 nations around the world. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Rev. Revis W. Stroupe in 1985. Grandson: Keith E. Laws and a Son-in-law: Earl E. Laws.
Survived by 3 Daughters: Sylvia S. Laws, Warren, Michigan, Thrasa J. Michael, Eaton, Ohio and Joy L. Nelson, Camden, Ohio; 5 Grandchildren: Wyatt Michael, Tina Morrison, Clint Nelson, Rod Nelson and Trisha Nelson; 3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2005 - 12:00 P.M. (Ohio Time) at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio with a host of friends officiating. Interment will be held in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, 2005 from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. (Ohio Time) at the funeral home.
