Emerson Brown

Emerson Brown, 84, of Pensacola, Florida, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home on Sept. 8, 2024. He was born on May 17, 1940, in Campton, Kentucky, the son of Clifford & Leona (Culbertson) Brown. At the age of three, Emerson and his family moved to Butler County, Ohio, and then later to Preble County, Ohio. He graduated from Gratis High School (Ohio) in 1958 and later attended Liberty Bible College (Pensacola, Florida). Emerson served for two years in the United States Army where he was a Specialist, earning several commendations for his small arms marksmanship and Five Direction Trajectory Control for the M50 "Honest John" Missile.

 Returning to civilian life, Emerson worked for Armco Steel, Occidental Life Insurance, and Commonwealth Life Insurance before going into business for himself in floor covering sales and installation, a business he expanded for over 50 years in Ohio, Indiana, and Florida.

 In 1963 Emerson married Sonja (Woods) Brown, and they shared 31 years together, raising two children before divorcing in 1994. Despite the end of their marriage, they remained connected through their children, grandchildren, and other family members.

 A past active member of the Eaton Church of the Brethren and Plainview Open Bible in Ohio, along with the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association. He led Bible study groups for his church in Florida and was involved in the Liberty Bible College community. Emerson enjoyed his family, fishing, UK Basketball and will be remembered for his humor, physical strength, compassion toward strangers, and meticulous attention to his business.

 Survivors include his two children, Scott (Dawn) Brown of Winter Garden, Florida; Craig (Janey) Brown of Milton, Florida, and a brother Stephen Brown of West Manchester, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Emerson leaves behind numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother Raymond Brown.
