Elsie M. Wise

Elsie M. (Banta) Wise, age 92, of New Paris, OH, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Golden Rule Nursing Center in Richmond, IN. She was born on May 13, 1922 in Preble County, OH, daughter of the late Wilbur E. and Treva C. (Sheller) Banta. Elsie was a seamstress for Nettle Creek in Richmond, IN for 23 years. She was a member of the Campbellstown United Church of Christ, the Preble County Senior Citizens Center and was an auxiliary member of the American Legion- Post 360 of New Paris.

In addition to her parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley L. Wise in 1970; son, Gerald L. Wise in 2011; daughter, Shirley A. Sinks in 2012; brother, George Banta in 1942; sisters, Helen Trump in 2010 and Alice Sandlin in 2011; great granddaughter: Kandis Smith in 2012.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Curry of Greensburg, KY, Elizabeth "Betty" McGurty and companion, Jerry Linton of Lewisburg, WV and Eileen and Ronald Yount of New Paris; son and daughter-in-law, William and Connie Wise of Port Orange, FL, Marlin Sinks, Eldorado, OH and Kay Wise, West Valley, UT, 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 3, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Homes, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH. The funeral service will be held Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Wesler officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris.
