Elsie E. Burkle

Elsie E. Burkle, age 92 of Eaton, Ohio went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, she and her husband, the late Harold Burkle, moved to the Dayton area with their family in the 60’s and moved again to retire in the Lakengren community in the late 70’s.

A rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service, she retired after more than 25 years of faithful service.

As a member of several Lutheran churches in Ohio - St. John’s Lutheran Church, Martins Ferry, Brandt Lutheran Church, Tipp City and Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton - she was involved in various church activities and groups over the years which included but not limited to: Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, women’s groups, quilting, board member, Women’s Council of Graceworks of Dayton, Dayton Conference – president, secretary and community action chair, to name a few.

She was also involved in the community everywhere she lived from being in the fire department auxiliary and as a member of Lakengren Women’s Club, the Red Hats, and one of the original volunteers of the Once Around Shop in Eaton as well as many more things too numerous to list.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years, she is survived by her children;

Susie Steinman, Ed Burkle, Christy Miller, Linda (Richard) Bray, Cindy (James) Kay and Bill (Donna Taylor) Burkle as well as 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and would have been a great great grandmother in January.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday September 25th 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church 111 Lutheran Dr., Eaton, OH. The Memorial will begin at 1:30 pm followed by dessert and a short social time.
